The Hernando Historical Museum Assoc., Inc. and North Pinellas County Scout Sertoma Club, Inc. presents the 25th Annual Brooksville Raid Festival, Jan. 15th and 16th, 2005. This festival is a re-creation of a civil war battle that happened in Hernando County in July of l864. It is held the 3rd weekend in January every year. We have become the largest civil war reenactment in Florida with over 3700 reenactors and their families participating in 2004, we also had 22 cannons, 51 horses, and 6 mules .

The public is invited to tour, at no additional charge, the authentic confederate and union camps and actually see how they lived and what it was like during the civil war. We will have 75 sutlers (Vendors) so you can purchase any civil war items you might want. We also have kettle corn, old time root beer and you can't leave without having a FRY BREAD. This year we will be hosting a l860's base ball game by the Pinellas Vintage Baseball Team starting at 12:00 on Saturday only..

We also have a ladies tea on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., then our battle at 2:30. At 8:00 p.m. on the raid site you can dance to the Virginia Reel at the Blue/Gray Ball from 8:00-11:00 P.M. to the music of the 97th. Regimental Band. Free admittance to all and you don't have to be in costume. Friday Jan. 14th, 2005, we hold a school day for children for a $l.00 donation. If interested please contact Judy Everett at 352-799-0l29 or email her at   everett_j@popmail.firn.edu

The location is on Hwy. 50 west at the Sand Hill Scout Reservation (across from Oak Hill Hospital) There is handicap parking, motorcycle parking available. Donation of $5.00 adults and $2.00 for children. Boy Scouts in uniform admitted free..
