Resignation Letter
It is with deepest regret that I feel that I must resign as chairman of the Brooksville Raid after l5 years of dedicated service and also from the Hernando Heritage Museum after 19 years. I received an ultimatum Jan 20, 2008 from General Hardy to attend a meeting at 11:00 am Sunday during our annual reenactment, which I could not attend because it was at the busiest time of our event. An ultimatum and a decision were made at that meeting without the raid committee’s or my approval. The president of the museum took it upon himself to agree to their demands. That decision should not have been made. No one has that power, no matter what they think. Oh well, its done. I had hoped that the generals knew me well enough, to be able to come to me with any problems, but they did not. This all could have been resolved between us, so I thought. Because of their disrespect for me and the committee, I cannot possibly continue as chairman.
I will miss the people and the event, but wish it well. My husband and I put our hearts into the Raid and few really appreciated it. Most just took it for granted. The more we did, the more they wanted. So be it. I am moving on to different things. I have been approached by another museum which wants to make use of my expertise in making the public more aware of its programs. I hope all of you will remember me with kindness, as well as my family who has helped me make the Brooksville Raid the successful event that it has become. I will remember everyone as well with kindness and happier times. Your event chairman for l5 years.
