New Business:

Christine Daniel was appointed as the Secretary for the Raid Committee

Lori our St. Petersburg times representative asked the committee for feedback on the Coverage the Times provided, specifically the pull-out section and the free papers left at registration. Only objection was the lack of cooperation between the news department and the sponsors.

There were no previous minutes to review at that time.

Review of the Treasury report was conducted by Joan Casey. Motion made to accept. Vote taken and passed.

The floor was opened to dialog of the 2005 Raid. The following items were discussed:

Overall group opinion stated that the Raid was successful and fun with no major problems or accidents.

We had fairly equal attendance on both days, 500 children on school days due to rain, Gate funds were up from last year, sponsor/parking passes were up from last year. Approximately 1400 reenactors registered, no specific count on spectators.

There was a incident with the TV station people walking in front of the cannons. They were told to clear the area and moved off to the side of the field.

The Ladies Tea was a successful event. The co-coordinators reviewed the activities and suggestions were offered for next year.

The PA system was damaged this year due to problems trying to control the volume. There is a large difference between the level of the speakers voice and the sound of the cannons. Trying to compensate for the discrepancy caused difficulties. A suggestion was offered that the speaker could previously record his speech so the volume could be controlled more easily or change to a louder person. The sound company has also said the current set-up we use is not sufficient for the new field. They suggest we pay additional funds for more speakers.

New gate restrictions were started this year regarding reenactors having to prove they were participating in the event. The system proved successful and everyone wanted to continue the practice.

If RV’s come back next year they will be asked to pay a deposit. The group didn’t have the attendance numbers they promised.

And so on. etc etc etc etc

This is the minutes of the meeting where the Raid committee agreed to and thought it was a good idea to continue to ask for proof of being a reenactor at registration. NOTE who was in attendance.
